Default Callahan, Coleman, Fisher, Jones, Nolan, Runnels, Shackelford, Taylor...5th Edition

Hello Gents!

It's that time of year again. Please post up all of your updates, including feeder pics, trail cam pics, foods pics, and any other pertinent information that you would like.

We've had our cameras up for about a month, but haven't had the opportunity to check them as of yet.

Good luck to everyone this year...it should be great!

Glad you started the thread. I pulled cameras in Callahan County the other day. Not seeing our mature bucks yet, too many hogs dominating feeders. Younger bucks are looking great though.

Had a great weekend at our farm! Trimmed roads/shooting lanes, filled feeders, checked cameras, and ate well.

Hoping for a great season!

just got back from our work weekend and man was it a tough one. There was vegetation growing in the feeder pens that we'd never seen before, some with bases a few inches in diameter. worked all day friday and saturday but got everything done that was needed.

Its gotten pretty dry out there though tanks still look great. Its actually probably the perfect setup for a great hunting season. Plenty of water and browse thru growing season, then start drying out in July and August forcing them to come to feeders. Gonna pull trail cams over Labor Day, will post back then...

Here are some of the bucks we will be chasing this year on the new place. We are in Northern Callahan about 8 miles N of Putnam. I count about 8 bucks so far that are either shooters, or close to it...

I also have a ranch project and TC Pic Heavy thread going over in Game Mgmt:

Fired off one of the three feeders on the place in Coleman county. My parents closed on it about a month and a half ago but prior summer commitments have kept us from getting anything done.

Glad to see this thread picking up steam! I haven’t been out to check cameras since my last post. Hopefully I get out this weekend to check cameras. My father in law killed 11 pigs last week so hopefully the deer are back at the feeders.

Have not been down to our place since early June but it was green green and grown up. Feeder has been running all summer. Need to go down and top off feeders and pull cards trim up lane ways. Does anybody have dove reports we are off 206 NE of town.

I pulled cards yesterday and the bucks are looking good. Not sure if I saw anything for me, but I know there’s a buck or two the wife would love to kill. I’ll get around to posting some pics over the next few days/week.

Seeing some decent deer so far. Some of the big boys that were passed last year haven't shown up yet, I hope they are still alive. Am impressed by how some of the youngsters have grown up

got a few nice deer on camera, my favorite of which is the very wide 8. I know they all look wider from that angle but I'm confident he'll be 25" wide at least. Highlight of the weekend was having my 8 year old on his first dove hunt and us having more birds than ive ever seen in 20 years out there. He definitely had the bar set way to high as far as future dove hunts concerned!

I’ve heard vague rumors that there may be some deer living in the general area of our place in south Shackleford County but so far there is no visual verification.

headed out a week from today for the bow opener. Looks like it will be toasty, highs around 90 and lows around 70. Hearing doves are still hanging around in a major way so will be tempted to bow hunt the AM and dove hunt the PM barring anything huge on cams.

Good luck to everyone and hopefully we'll see some major unexpected wx changes between now and then...
