Me and a buddy are headed down for the 2nd Hunt 11/30-12/4 Hunt. Couple of 50 something semi fit old Bow hunters.
First time at LA so can't offer much help, reading up online. Planning on Pop-ups and chairs. We have Bikes if needed but sounds like about as much a negative as they are a positive. Hunted Elk in Colorado & New Mexico on horses and hiking, White tail, Hogs and Varmints all over. But have not ridden a bike in more that 35 years.
Snake defiantly bother me, almost as much as spiders... Still can't wait,

Thanks for all the help in prep & planning.
If you help while there look us up, we are planning to stay in Adolph Thomae County Park. Black Ford F150 with a TBH sticker on the window.

Finally got out to hunt at about 4 pm at one of my secondary spots. Saw nothing except a bobcat. But I did hear an idiot walking back to his truck at 530 and talking on his phone on the trail. Good luck to all tomorrow. Congrats to txfirefighters brother on the cow.

Tell me about it. Iím in 5. I can hear them talking/yelling at times. I think there are a few diff groups, seems like slightly different directions on gun shots.

Watch for thorns. There are a lot on the trail.

Tons of water. I had water mid calf today where there was dry ground last year. Rain the next few days wonít help that situation either. Very glad I brought my waders and rubber boots.

So, I thought about staying in bed..... should have. Not a good start to my day. So I drive out, see two other trucks parked on side of 106, everything looks fine. Pull over and feel my front end slide just a little toward ditch. 4 wd time. No luck front end goes further down, canít get back wheels on pavement. Stuck! So letís go hunting. Grab my bow out of back seat, something stings the heck out of me on my stomach. Never saw it but stings like heck. Welling up. Iím hunting, getting wet. WTH. Frog Riggs leaking. So if you drive by with a 4x4 I could use a little tug Thanks

Sorry jen man. I slept in. Be heading out shortly. With all this human activity, animals bugged out. I think tomorrow and Tuesday will be better when there's less hunters. 250 permits is crazy.

Good move. Iím just thinking the people who are out will probably stay out all day. Hope someone comes along to help onto pavement. Not to bad just slippery and everytime I try to move it gets worse. Weíll see. Good luck today.
