Default Finally, live log cabin build!!

I know I have been talking about this for several months now, but we are finally in a position to go ahead and get started. The only thing that is not going to go well right now is the weather. It will probably be a couple of weeks before we get the slab totally finished. Here's a picture of everything squared and trees flagged that need to be removed before they start leveling. The concrete crew is going to try to get the trees removed and the ground leveled and ready to dig footings and such by the end of the week, and then wait until it warms up to finish the rest. Based on what I've gotten from Satterwhite recently, they will be out around the end of December to start laying logs.

You'll be happy with Satterwhite. They built two log homes for us. Congrats!

Here's a picture of the front. We are adding double doors on the balcony, and we also are widening the balcony by two feet on each side to make it a total of 17 feet wide. The house is 1100 square feet of living space and 700 square feet of porches

You will love living in a log house nd the porches are a must have. We have 88' of porch on ours and every body that visits wants to sit on the porch and while away the day.

As of right now that is what it will be to us. Once the Texas water development board makes a decision on Marvin Nichols reservoir, we will either decide to keep it that way or sell the house in town and move out here permanently. It is just my wife and I, and my son every other weekend so 1100 square-foot is just fine with us. Our house we live in now is 2600 sq ft and it is way way too big.

That is from the north facing south.

That is facing the south west

That is facing north. One more tree to be moved and then start grading the ground, and leveling everything out in the morning, said exterior forms, and then wait for better weather.

Concrete crew goes back out tomorrow morning. Made appointments to pour next Wednesday. Let's hope decent weather follows so we can finish this piece of the deal.

Yes sir all inside. No rock outside at all. So we can add at a later date. Once the shell is built it's pay as we go for the rest.

How deep does the foundation have to be under the stone fireplace? Looks like you're going to have a good-sized one. I like it.

The footing is 8' wide, 5' from edge of slab and 3' deep. We're not even going to go with anything heavy but the option is there if we want it.
