Can't quite get on board with this. Texas can't seem to run up the score on anyone and Aggie will not lose to Ole Miss.

I see Texas simplifying things this week on defense. I'd take Texas to cover and not be hungover from the River.

GP after a bye week is usually a good omen.

I'm going against conventional wisdom and taking Frogs and the over.

I think the same. I believe the players were embraced by what they put on display at the Cotton Bowl and come out to play.

I donít think itís a blowout as I think Les knows how to coach to keep that from happening and they have a legit running back to slow the game down.

I just hope the Aggies can beat Ole Miss as LSU, Georgia and now SC are going to be tough. No guarantee against Miss St...gotta love the competition in the SEC.

Be interesting to see how the new Kansas OC does this week. He is quite the young-gun high scoring type. He made the rounds with the coaching clinics this past summer and was praised by many top notch coaches. Les Miles ended up hiring him this summer and then fired his older OC two weeks ago (right after OU game) and has given this new young guy 2 full weeks to prep for Texas and get the offense figured out.

Why is SC magically going to be tough now? Because their 3rd string qb led an upset of UGA?

I'm not trying to add insult to injury, but Texas is last in the Big 12 in total Defense, and passing defense.

Passing defense they have the #9 team beat by 60 yards per game avg

I even read this is statistically the worst defense ever at Texas? Is that true?

Obligatory - we suck as well

I can agree with that! Wildcard for me is the UGA loss and Florida State loss. Can Auburn bounce back after a bye week? Those two losses keep them in the chase with 1 loss, but they gotta run the table.

Statistically maybe the worse right now but they've already played the only two big boy teams they'll play (until OU again, I know) and their stats will improve.
Need to roll KU, TH does not need this to be a close game, his window of opportunity with Sam is quickly closing.

Ag's played poorly against Auburn, have not played bad in the two losses to the #1's.

True but the Texas D is not the worst in the b12 and Iím speculating the end of season stats will not be as bad as the current ones.

I hope you're right but man have they looked bad at times. Some of that is due to an insane amount of injuries.

another mid week GAME DAY

ULL (4-2) @ Arky State (3-3) at 6:30pm tonight ESPNU

for the Cajuns to secure a WIN, they need to feed ASU a heavy dose of the rushing attack (ranked 2nd nationally at 6.85 yds per rush)

I know what you're saying but I can't totally agree. If your D is giving up less than 10 points a game your record is going to be pretty good.

Points are about the only stats that do matter. I like to look at points vs average to get a gauge. Then of course you throw matchups / game plan / injuries in there so itís not totally accurate.

I also like to look at plays defended against. Big difference having to defend 100 plays vs 60 plays.

If stats didnít matter then 4 out of top 5 teams (OU, LSU, Ohio State, Alabama) wouldnít all be in the top 7 for offense

The top 3 total defense are Wisconsin, Ohio state, clemson...

Coincidence? No they tell a part of the story.

Thereís a reason Texas isnít a top 10 team and thatís because your defense isnít very good, and the stats reflect that.

He's trying to say they don't always determine wins and losses. Every game is different at this level. It's not as clinical as the NFL. Vast difference in schedules and competition/style in college. Sure, stats tell part of the story but can never truly be compared in the landscape of college football. They are good for water fountain fodder though!!

And if Texas has played those schedules they might have better stats / more wins. Thatís why stats are silly as a benchmark. Yes, the top ranked teams will probably have better stats.

Nobody is claiming Texas a contender.
