Sorry about ghosting y'all last night. This go phone has a pretty mediocre battery. I'm back at it in the clear cut this morning. After this morning's hunt I'm going try to do,some mowing and go to war with a few red wasp that are camped out in our stands. I have a hit or miss allergic reaction to them so we'll hope for the best. There is also a pretty good chance the shooting yesterday was to intentionally screw with my hunt. I made a couple of phone calls and put the message out that I'd rather be cival about all of that but I also know how to oblige that other way too. If I'd had either of my kids with me yesterday y'all would likely be reading about it in the paper this morning.

Anyways, we have a pretty steady breeze going and a little front is moving in to cool things off a little. The rest of the week should be pretty decent hunting.

First deer was a doe. A buck,of some kind just pushed her out and took, over the corn. Too dark to tell, what he is

I'm back at it and down in the bottom. Temps had dropped 11į from this morning to when I parked the truck a little while ago. I found this spot yesterday and sure liked the way it looked so I dumped a little corn and let it rest. Miraculously there wasn't any wasp in this stand but the mosquitoes are terrible!

There's a field to my west, river bottom to the east, huge pin oak flat to the north and a really big pine and switch cane thicket to the south. This spot has the right stuff to hold giants. They really haven't moved much the last few days. Hopefully today is much better.

The wind has pretty much stopped, just a slight breeze. It's a long ways from, cold, but substantially cooler than yesterday. This is the kind of spot one could show up at any time.

I'm back in the same stand as yesterday evening for a couple of reasons. I can't see two sits in a row getting 0'd here and I want to scout this bottom after my hunt. There's plenty of places to get a climber up on the edge of these thickets. The air is damp and cool this morning, it feels like, deer season again! Baby girl gets out of school at 2:30 and we'll be getting after them this evening. Stay tuned, it's a beautiful morning!

I'm starting to remember why I don't hunt pretty spots... If I find something like this on public land I call it a tourist trap. This one sure sets up right though. This year is as much about getting the property set up and keeping the locals in check and we have our hands full on both accounts. Before next season this area will be pushed out and planted. I would really like a better access to it too but that may not be possible. Gonna give it til 8:30 or so and go do some slough slippin'. I may even bump, the horns together.
