PK is releasing 395 cfs. Grandbury cut it's release back today to 877cfs.

W lake is 4.62 feet above normal and rising. No water of significance being released.

A lake is 7.31 feet above normal and still rising. No water of significance being released.

Looks like itís gonna keep rising through the weekend after the added rain from this morning. Itís always a bit crazy when itís obvious the water has gone up between the time you go in to hunt and leave. Every creek I drive past or walked near was moving like I havenít seen in a while. I think everything is just that saturated from the last few months of rediculous rain. Boat would have been a good investment this year for sure.

I doubt it was, but if it was me Iím sorry. Had two different groups of non hunters bust through where I was hunting. No point in sitting there any more after they decided to hang out 100 yards away. If you were on whitney on the Hill side PM me. I will be out all day again.

Good luck to everyone on the last day of buck season!

Looks like PK opened up it's gates again. Currently releasing 8729 cfs. Grnadbury is releasing 879 cfs. That will change.

W lake is 5.78 feet above normal. And rising. It's releasing a whopping 41 cfs. I expect it will come up some more seeing how some of the smaller lakes down south are on the rise. Stillhouse is 12+ feet above normal. And Belton is 11+ feet above normal. Most of the rest of the smaller lakes are well above normal. And water needs to be released from them.

A lake is 8.51 feet above normal. And only releasing 26 cfs.

I'm not really sure why ACE is holding off from releasing waters from those lakes that need it.

Sat all day again, this time with no major interruptions... Seen deer all day until about noon then nothing, not even on the 2 mile hike out. Not sure what happened. Time to punch some doe tags hopefully. Still need some more meat in the freezer.

Anyone find a release in the grass outside H1 in the camp area? Checked my gear over three times since I’ve been home and nothing. Calling it an early season unless someone has some good news for me...

Granbury is still releasing over 2600cfs. (PK over 2000cfs). So I don't know about stained. Both those ramps were closed last weekend. But they might be open now since the W lake is only 1.15 feet above normal. The water was over the road going under the bridge to the ramp at Kimball last weekend. Might be clear now. Plowman ramp should be open. Park was open last weekend but ramp closed.

The fish are biting, and there's hogs to be kilt. Gotta go!

Got another one out last night. After a lot of very frustrating sits (and a frustrating year) it was nice to get a shot off. Broadhead did itís work an pretty much removed the heart. One blade sliced the top of the heart and the other three destroyed all the veins and arteries. Went 35 yards and fell right there, got to love the easy track job. The haul out was not so easy though.

Good luck to those of you still working to put away some meat. I plan to be back at it this afternoon.

No hunting for me today, wind was howling to the point I wouldnít be confident in my shot placement. I will be out all day tomorrow to see if I can tag one more to end the season. Hate to see the season end, but my body could sure use a break. Good luck to everyone that is getting out tomorrow!

This was my first year hunting Aquilla or Whitney. I mainly focused on Aquilla as I liked the area around it a bit easier.

I noticed on the weekends every spot a truck could pull in, had at least 1-2 vehicles. Weekdays were much better.

I had a 5-6 turkey walk by me on my first hunt, so definitely going back! My second time out I had a doe jump out right in front of me 8-10 yards away, I was on the ground and she eyed me and took off before I could even move. Was really cool. Third time out I saw probably 4-5 doe and 1 nice 8 point buck but none within range.

Definitely getting permit again and would like to spend some more time out there for hog. Looks like good sign all over the place. Will be nice once the water goes down a bit.

I havent posted in awhile or been to the lake in about 4 weeks, i.havent dropped out just been running around with my dogs . My big dog came home for a week and is now in the Baton Rouge areathe puppy has consumed all my time as she needs a strong hand to guide her. You guys would be amazed with what a well bred field trial dog can do at 9 weeks of age. Right now its birds and bumpers at 30 yards and getting bumped up to 50 next week. If you follow the field trial world on retrievers be on the lookout for RIKi TIKI TIMBO as she looks to have what it takes. Ill get back on the lake in a few weeks so flag me down if you see me.

Perfect conditions yesterday, with exception to lack of sunshine. Water temp was 55 degrees, perfect!. And fish were no where to be found hardly , on my graph. I talked to several others and if they were lucky, they had one fish. Same with they're graphs. I was lucky to get one fish mark in 200 yards. That is how thin they were. They may be at the Grandbury dam. As it's been running most of the winter . I did catch on crappie and missed 3 other fish. That was fishing over 10 miles of water, some of it double.

I am posting positive stuff. I'm positive there were almost no fish in the river.

After a little research last night, I did find someone who found the stripers. But they wouldn't bite.

I don't guide for fish. I generally don't chase those. But will put one in the livewell if it's a legal fish. Although it's not my flavorite eating fish.

Ron Gardner held the lake record and sate record on Whitney for smallies till 1998. And 10 of the top 20 state records for smallies. I don't know if he still guides or not.

Thanks,

My son has a tournament in a couple of months and wanted to get the lay of the land. Whitney has not been our best lake in the past.
