    What gun/caliber for a <100yd varmint gun?

I'm looking for something to get rid of the squirrels and grackles at my backyard feeder. Feeder is right at 100 yards. I have plenty of 5.56 on up, but i'm looking for something a little cheaper and quieter. .22lr? .22mag? .17hmr? Maybe even one of those high powered air rifles?

.17hmr sounds like the ticket. But really any of those you listed would be fine.

I’ve got an Alexander Arms 17hmr AR for the purpose you describe.

For the mission you proposed, I would give the nod toward the .17hrm.

Good old .22 long rifle. In an accurate rifle and sighted in for the distance, will be deadly.

17 would be easy. 22lr being slower might be more fun?

.204 ruger,,, wont leave anything to have to pick up!

any of the listed ones should work well, 22 lr would be the most fun,

                              Airforce Texan .257

It’s a pcp air rifle and ammo can be found easier for it then some of the others mentioned. Initial cost is high but long term it’s cheaper and more fun. You can suppress it without the hassle of the paperwork.

My .257 Texan shoots quarter size groups at 100 yds. Plus you can take other animals with it.
