My sister lives in California and briskets are hard to come by
As tri tip Is recognizable I vote tri tip
Brisket is off the front, tri tip is bottom sirloin both = low and slow

I don’t think it’s a tri-tip. My wife’s from Bakersfield and I lived out there for a few years. We cook tri-tip often.

Tri-tip is usually more pointed and slim on the tip end. Usually has a little curve from the thick to the point also.

Tri-tip was my first thought as well.

Its a raw piece of beef. Raw would be my vote. Cook it and include pics of the finalized product!
                There! That is all.

Final answer: it’s a brisket, point plus a little flat. Thanks for the replies, turned out great!
