ive done my dock and my father in laws. lots of silt. i used a big azz post driver like the ones for t posts but big, and heavy.

jetting works. but be sure to refill the holes before you stop for the day. heard from a few neighbors how they jetted theirs in and they float back up.

go as deep as you can. your going to cut off the excess anyway. sink them till they get close to the right height if possible. watch for twisting and plum on the way down, hard to correct once they're buried. we had a big pipe wrench to help correct twisting.

When my father in law set his posts we jetted them out and used a piece of 4” pvc to get concrete into the hole. The water was only 3’ - 4’ deep where we were working. Concrete setup just fine.

Appreciate the advice. Trying to get them 6' minimum. We will watch level and plumb like a hawk and use the jet to help backfill.

Rental company manager didn't open at 7 like promised so I'm headed to the next one to pick up the pump while my buddy starts demo.

Here's our mission. Replace front deck, walkway, then open front and back walls and cut window openings in the metal side walls so it isn't an oven in there all summer.
