Same thing happened to me except in a pasture. Luckily Buffalo weren't taking cover under it.

That was a nice and it sucks to lose one. Around my house I have nothing but Hickory and Black Jack Oaks, the Black Jack are a pain to keep trimmed but they make good shade.

Just waiting for weather to clear and then I will fire up the saw(s)
Get my driveway cleared off first and probably take through the weekend to get it all cut up and started splitting and stacking

I didn't have any issues in the yard, but haven't been into the woods or down to the pond yet.
My brother lost 4 trees in his yard 5 miles up the road.

It was a wind up here last night for sure. I am thinking about cutting one of the big oaks near my house for this very reason.
