    help choosing a blade shape

I'm going to be building (probably stock removal rather than forging) several Sgian Dubhs as gifts for my wife's friends who have an annual girls weekend watching Outlander.

I'm going for a fairly traditional look. The actual size will be between 5 1/4"-6"

I think I've been staring at them too long, I'm having a hard time picking a style I like best.

What's your opinion? Certain elements of one perhaps combined with a different one?

Far right. Women tend to prefer a knife with a more slender blade, I think the jumping is handy, and like the fish tail/mermaid look to the handle.

I like the middle one. For women you probably need a smaller handle.

Might do some research of Finnish Puukko knives that women in Finland carry for some additional ideas. #6 would look more like a traditional Dubh as it's doubtful any of the historic knives had any serrations on the blade.

Number 8 without the jimping. Simple and will do anything they ask of it most likely

4th from right. Looks the most 'traditional' to me

pin it up on the wall and throw a knife at it.
as they say, "it's the thought that counts."
