There was some lessons learned/good ideas done the last day at GRXH 2019.

Two items I thought would be worth pushing for this year is:
1. A drone with good fly time capacity that can help spot from above
2. Thermal gear. I think a pulsar or a cheap knockoff could help groups spot pigs at distance during daylight hours. It should be cold enough for good contrast.

Drones are a no- no

use aircraft (including drones, except by activity-specific permit) to hunt, locate (including wounded animals), manage, harass, drive, trap or photograph any wild animal.

Cool

Drones are for sure restricted unless you have a pilot's license. Plus, there may be other permits on state/government land.

We should bring 2 slacklines and place 8-10ft over creek for those of us without boats to cross. One for feet the other for hands. They would be high enough for the boats to go under. We could use climbing sticks to get up high.

Then...it is obvious that it should be done...if not for assjackery purposes...for the sake of slo-mo falling videos for the post hunt thread top ten.

I volunteer to setup and post up on highwire bridge from the island to wherever appropriate when a push goes. Spradley...Im gonna need to borrow your saddle...por favor. I dont want to make the top ten.

Beeman...I can bring a thermal imager but I dont think itll be much use.

Im interested to know if someone has a legit playbook from which playcall assignments could be volunteered for and preordained...prior to hunt commencement. Talking crazy...but...a SoreFinger Flotilla sounds appropriately appropriate especially if no hogs are in at midday Saturday.

Who is XO again?

Oooh! I like this idea! I'm bringing mine. Always wanted to slack line over water anyway

Hmm. Actually upon reconsidering weather and water temp I'm tempted to change my mind. Maybe I'll just set it up in camp. We're still bound to get good footage of dudes busting their ***

We can set up the slack line with a hand line above to cross the creek. For those of use without balance it will be easy to cross and make for good fun with alcohol!

I don't know man... most GRXH shenanigans have a low likelihood of causing death or paralysis.

How would people feel about a GRSSH (granger ranger super soft hunt)? Xbows and shotguns(for small game) only. If you normally shoot a crossbow but can't because of medical reasons(you're no longer super soft) you can shoot a vertical bow. Bring all the cupcakes and oatmeal cookies you can eat! NO SWIMMING! unless of course you have an insulated wet suit with Disney princess floaties...
And Epstein totally killed himself

I'm only partially joking. I have a crossbow as well and still shoot it sometimes. I really do think it might be fun to have another less intense weekend excursion out there. Maybe when its warmer. Food/xbows/shotguns allowed. Maybe I'll start another thread to get the ball rolling

I'll be out there wednesday late, around 9pm. Will anyone be available to give me a boat ride in?

If not I can hike in from the circle lot and catch a boat ride in Thursday and hitch a ride back to the circle lot.

Man I'm on a mushroom kick....I was hoping there might be some oyster shrooms out there. Some spots look really good for it.

Garlic is unlikely but onions are everywhere!

Yes, I'll take car of it on Wednesday, and let the gate keeper at Taylor know we are coming.

Last time I went out, New Years, I spent four days at primitive; I did call and leave a message at HQ but for some reason it didn't get through. When I arrived back at the boat ramp on the last day there were a bunch of Sherrif Deputies looking for us because my truck had been in the lot for four days. He said he was about to get a State Trooper helicopter in the air to look for us!

The gate keepers do a pretty good job of keeping an eye on things, I told her I would let her know as well next time. Not that we need to for GRXH, as they follow this thread, but I guess it doesn't hurt anything to over inform those that watch out for us.

The Meat and Potato hunt is usually by roll call, if enough people want to do it, we do it.
I can't really blame you for that...

I'm down if it happens this year.
