3 yards on the dive is neutral, 4 we win.

Stan and I both live in El Campo, he still runs (not jogs) daily at 75, he was an assistant here when I was playing. His oldest son and I are good friends and old teammates. Both his son's could ball.

Just saw Tyree Wilson entered the portal. Anyone have any scoop on that? I'm kind of surprised to see that as he saw substantial playing time last year. I know we recruited to that position, bit you need volume due to high injury rate.

We still need a few more to enter the portal to make up for the class we took this year. We signed 3 guys at his position this cycle, that most think are more talented than him. He was considered a depth guy when he was signed.

Rumor is Max Wright is 245# now and moved to FB starting in Spring.

I think the writing was on the wall for this young man, being sandwiched between older and younger players with more talent.

He didn't want to stick around and have an underclassmen take his job from him.

I posted stats a while back showing the very low number of kids entering the portal that actually transfer. He isn't gone yet.

We still need like 4-5 guys to transfer to fit this years class, not a huge loss either way. Going to be more like him go.

You may be thinking of tyree Johnson? Wilson played some. Figured he would be one that needed years to develop but be good as an upper classmen

Yes it’s DE #40 that is transferring, who lost playing time to Johnson and Leal this year.

Wow

https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/al...labamas-staff/

'Source tells FootballScoop after fielding a number of offers from various SEC programs, Charlie Strong appears to have selected Alabama as his next stop. We hear an agreement could be in place soon. Stay tuned…'

How do these coaches

work their way up to the point of failure,

get fired

Get rehired by a smaller school

fail again

Get job interview and possible position in one of the top programs in the country.

I guess Saban will milk him for what he knows, Strong will end up with a PhD in football/management and will end up a HC again in 2-3 years ----assuming this goes through.

It’s literally been this way since the beginning of time many of the best coaches have done exactly your blue print, and are considered legends today.

You're right, and Coach O comes to mind as one of them. Just keep working and IF the pieces fall together perfectly - coaching, players, scheme, schedule, etc - it's a thing of beauty.

Saban bombed in the NFL

Dabo struggled, but never really 'bombed'

Lot's of ups and downs. Seems like coaches used to stay in an organization longer though, and work to be promoted to rather than hired as a head coach. Again, Coach O broke the mold on that, but for the most part it's a job hop for a promotion.

Casa Rio is the best SA style Tex Mex on the river walk. Don't get fancy. Order the big combo plate. The downtown Blanco Cafe is good as well.

No reservations. Casa Rio is the place with different colored umbrellas. Good riverwalk atmosphere. Deluxe dinner or regular plate.

I would like to add something to that Myles Brennan pic... i know Joe cast a huge shadow, but In a new age where kids don’t compete and look for the easiest out. This kid has buckled up the straps and worked he’s got plenty of talent, and clearly not scared to grind! He has my utmost respect for showing up every day and competing

I saw some top 10s but they weren't in it.

You'll see a huge improvement from Texas on D. Use the Alamo bowl as a reference.
