    Weird Skull Deterioration

Working on a euro mount and I noticed what looks like calcium build up and rot in the skull above the teeth area. The deer was handled with care from start to finish. No noticeable exterior issues on the face either.

Any ideas on what it could be? Also, any ideas on fixing it?

Osteomyelitis from tooth infection or something that was introduced through the jaw line?

Thank y’all! I’ve never seen it before. David this one was killed in Llano. I actually brought the meat to y’all. Is this something common around that area?

Good seeing you over the weekend. I think this is just an occurrence that happens across the board. Basically, an infection that consumes the bone.
