    Old fishing gadgets

The post about fish scaling machines got me to thinking about old fishing gadgets. Anybody else remember these old fish skinners? I have one my dad bought probably in the early 1960's.

I saw a informercial once with an electric version of that. The one you pictured sells for $27 on etsy.

We used those for scaling a lot of fish when I was a kid. I think we still have one.

I too still have a couple of my Dads 60's models. They have scaled many of Toledo Bend bass.

I do every now and then. Especially on big hand sized perch. More for nostalgia than anything. Reminds me of fishing with my grandpa and that’s how we ate them then. I’ll skin catfish in the 1-2lb range and fry whole as well.

Flounder was the only fish I recall it being used on as well...
