Hearing aids and gunfire

For you who wear them do hearing aids suppress gunfire or do you have to take extra measures to prevent more damage to your hearing ?

They will not suppress the sound! I take them out or at least turn them off

I take my out and use molded ear plugs.

I take mine out for sure .I use the electronic ear muffs so I can kinda hear other while shooting.

I do not wear hearing aids but do have some hearing loss.
I use the Walker's game ear HD in each ear for archery and rifle hunting and they work good for me. My hearing loss is not extreme so they may not provide what you need but they do amplify elk bugles and such so that I can hear them and they muffle rifle shots nicely.

Mine suppress but if I’m going to shoot a lot I do different.

I try to remember to mute mine before shooting at something. They do not mute loud noises on their own. Luckily, I don’t shoot more than 10 shots at anything in a year.

Most hearing aids don’t noise cancel. Audiologist told me to take extra precaution with HAs. Take them out is the best and use protection. I have put muffs over the HAs but it’s not the best.

I say take 'em out and use the muffs---I use ear plugs under my muffs--I have already lost too much hearing, and I can tell you from first hand experience, the aids do not replace lost hearing after a point.

Mine suppress anything above 80 decibels. It makes it sound like a deep thump. I have a channel for background noise, or when shooting around a lot of other people also. I still wear muffs if I'm around a lot of other shooting. And prefer ear plugs and muffs at the range. But when I hunt, that thump sound is beautiful!
