Big loss for sure. I kinda met him once 20 years ago. On my way to my lease I stopped by one of those bookstores he had in those old buildings in Archer City. Nobody was in there besides him an he was sitting at a desk just sorta staring off in space. I introduced myself and told him I was a fan. He said “thanks”. That was it- I could tell he wanted nothing to do with having a conversation so I left. I imagined he was concentrating- writing his next great novel in his head

Lived a few miles down the road from his bookstore in AC. Always wanted to stop and say hi. Never did. I should have. RIP sir!

Used to stay in Archer City about 20 years ago when we would duck hunt out that way. Ms Mary owned the Lonesome Dove Inn and we’d rent the house she owned next to it. She was a lifelong friend of Mr McMurtry and I had the pleasure of eating dinner with him and Ms Mary on a few occasions. They were both great folks. RIP Mr McMurtry.

He did but there was a lot of negativity towards it.
