My wife’s Infinity is starting to have a random propane/mercaptan smell . It’s comes and goes randomly. Has happened a 3 or 4 times . Had happened while I was driving by myself. And once with everyone in the car . It only lasts a few minutes. Anyone else ever had this issue ? Or have an idea what could be causing it ?

We’ve had issues with our fleet Tahoe’s having a “bad smell” and it has been the batteries going bad. Sometimes they are swollen and other times they appear ok but test bad. Our vehicles have 2 batteries so depending on which battery it is the vehicle will still start fine. The smell comes and goes for the most part.

The battery is inside the cab so that is very possible. Will try to looking it it tomorrow.

Battery is my guess and wouldn’t have said that until this weekend. My brothers camper had a horrible propane smell coming from it. We thought sewage leak-nope. Propane leak-nope. Happened to see the “extra” battery smoking. Unhooked it. Smell went away. Had no idea a bad battery smelled like a septic but it dang sure did.
