      a

      Point = (6, -7), x1=6, y1=-7
      Slope = -5/4 = -1.25

      y-y1 = m(x-x1)

      Point-slope form:
      y+7 = -1.25(x-6)
      y = -1.25x + 0.5, the y-intercept is 0.5

              A is correct.
              The slope m = rise/run. In this case think of it as rise = -5 and run = 4.
              The long way:
              Take your first point (6,-7) and create a second point using the slope. Since you are near the edge of the graph let's go to the left, which means you subtract the slope numbers from the first point.
              6 is horizontal so 6 - run (4) = 2
              -7 is vertical so -7 - rise (-5) = (-7- (-5)) = (-7+5) = -2
              So the second point on the line is (2,-2).

              The short way:
              The easy way to judge it without doing the math is: a 45 degree line has a slope of 1. If the slope is larger than 1 the line is steeper than 45, if it is less than 1, it is flatter. Since (5/4) is larger than one the line is steeper than 45. Since the slope is negative it goes downward from left-to-right. There is only one answer that is steeper than 45 and goes down from left-to-right.
