I'm really interested in seeing what kind of fuel mileage I'll get from this when it gets settled in. And this truck hasn't had working A/C in it since 2008, till now.

Largely:

OBS for GM Products is 88-98 (there are some exceptions in 99/00: Suvs, 3/4 and 1 ton)
NBS is: 99-06 (Some 07s)
NNBS is: 07+

This is also just internet slang for the most part.

2000 Silverado 2500. Just put a new crate motor Vortex 6000 in it. She has 245,000 miles. We are getting ready to have her repainted and a new dash put in. I'll grab pics soon.

No, I’ve had it for years and have slowly been fixing it up. It’s getting hard to find the 4x4 swb pickups as clean as this one, especially with EVERYTHING in working order. (Heat, a/c, four wheel drive... everything down to the clock in the gauge cluster.) Plus I promised my son, who is nearly 9, he can have it when he starts driving.

Another square body here. Bought this 86 in Big Spring and trailered it home as a project for my son and I when he was 14. We pulled it all apart, cleaned it up, upgraded lots of stuff like brakes and steering, put on a lift kit, had it painted and had it ready to go when he turned 16. It was a great project for us together, and he had plenty of sweat equity in it when complete. He was very proud. Highly recommend this kind of thing to spend time with your boy when not out hunting. Time goes too fast. He is 8 hrs away at college now and we get so little time together.

I'm back to driving my 98 almost daily again and looking for another project since I sold my last 2 Door Tahoe.

Anybody have a running/driving 2 Door Tahoe or Reg Cab Truck they want to part with? Looking for another project with my kids. No rust buckets, 4x4 is a must. Prefer driveable. Other than that whatcha got?


Only picture I have of my 1998 handy. Needs paint but interior is 9/10 and run like a top. And would love to see pictures of other peoples as well.

Got 244 miles on the new motor as of yesterday. Has a new aluminum Radiator in it now from BeCool.com. Model 60069, for those with standard shift. The tanks on it are massive!

My 89' F150 brick nose is considered a OBS by the Ford guys. I figure 87' back is OBS for Chevy.

Dadgummit! I scanned (perhaps too fast) and didn’t see it. It was right there before my eyes! But, but, but…old body style? That makes no sense. All older trucks were old body style compared to today, and that will change regularly. I don’t like acronyms!

The folks that declared the 1999 and up "The New Body Style".


The '87 and down lost the title of OBS and became the "square bodies" when the 1999 models came out. And the '88-98 became the new "OBS". Happens ever time a new style comes out, regardless of mfgs. We will lose the title of OBS one day. Just don't know what the public will call us yet. Maybe the "Old OBS"? But I would guess that's the title of the current Square bodies right now.

I just picked up another a couple weeks ago. A 1993 Chevy C2500 X-cab long bed. Has a standard 5sp trans with a granny low and an overdrive. Basically, a 3sp with a low and OD. The 5.7 still has a little life after 239k. This is the 8 lug wheel model. My '89 is a 6 lug. There were 2 series in the 1988-1994 C2500 models. A light duty and a heavy duty.

The fish are biting, and there's hogs to be kill-t. Gotta go!
