    What’s Eating my Catfish?

My son found this partial eaten catfish earlier today. Fairly fresh. That head is about 6” wide so I’m guessing 6-7lb cat.
I’m around my pond daily & see no floaters.
Also saw an older head from a smaller 1 lb size
I know cranes will catch smaller ones. You think a crane could extract this size? Raccoon?
    Thoughts?

My uncle lost all his catfish to Otters. They can clean out a tank/pond in a hurry.

No gator. Hadn’t seen any sign or evidence of otter?
How prevalent in East Tx & this is a pond without running water feeding it

Look for a trail or trails going to your pond. They tend to use the same path to and from the water. Set up conibears on their path. They are fish killing machines. A lot of times they only take a bite or two out of the belly of the fish. They love to kill big bass.

                          Btw, running water doesn’t matter.

Fresh water otter. They will move a good distance daily and make a reg route if all is right for them. They can trot like a small dog.
