So is Baylor or SMU the best college program in Texas currently? That's not something you would think you would ever hear!!!

Iím not sure how good we really are, but weíre pretty salty. Sonny has done an incredible job of not only coaching but also selling his product to Big D. Will we ever sell out a Texas Stadium again? Probably not. But baby steps first-selling out Ownby. That wonít happen without playing the bigger in state schools as the numbers just donít add up when you talk about number of living alumni. That being said it was a dang good, vocal (unusual for the typical SMU fan) crowd yesterday. Boo throws the best deep ball Iíve ever seen and has some horses to get behind defenses to catch them. Makes for entertaining football. Iím enjoying the ride.

Congrats. Heck of a season so far. Keep it up and ride it all the way. I was shocked at all the empty seats at Ownby. I figured most of Dallas was jumping on board to get with a winning program in Texas. It's a rare thing these days.

Oh, I got a kick out of all the Aggies talking smack. As always they enjoyed Texas struggling to win more than their own teams game. Notice Texas fans didn't say a word about the Aggie game.

Why? It was just a few years ago that Baylor had the best college football team in Texas, although it was a team full of criminals.

Plain awful and embarrassing.
No excuses, Herman needs to make some tough coaching decisions.
But I think he is too stubborn to do so.
Kansas? And not a decent KU but a 2-4 KU?
Mangino was somewhere laughing his butt off.

Perhaps you missed where I said I was amused, not mad. Lol.

Most Texas fans on here never said Texas was back. We said they need to win a couple of conference championships and make the playoff more than once to truly be "back".

The 19, 20 and 21 classes have no bearing on this season or even next. If Herman doesn't right the ship quickly there will be some decommits or flips.

Fun day of sports yesterday. The Stros advance and the Ags grit out an ugly win on the road. We only gave up 155 through the air but allowed 250 on the ground (the most in the Fisher/Elko era). In the end it was some big plays by the D that brought home the W.

OL is still bad. Mond needs to be better. We should be 7 point favorites I would think with Miss State coming to Kyle on Saturday. Gig Em

Surely - with the talent that is in and headed for CS - there will be a challenger for the QB1 position? Mond hasnít improved - his stats are GREAT and we canít win a game!

Iím not a mond fan, but..... this OL is so bad that mond is taking too much heat.

Now that heís starting to use his legs and run, itís opening up some things and if we had a good OL weíd be winning some games with him.

Heís not a play maker, but heís good enough that weíd be fine if this **** OL wasnít horrendous

I doubt either of those two would beat OU or LSU or even stay within 7. It's also no given that Texas would be undefeated with either of their schedules. I doubt they'd do well with the Aggie schedule either.

4 sacks and 3 QB hurries. He took a pretty good beating on some throws he got off.

New OL coach and prater taking over at center for McCoy is a huge downgrade.

McCoy was a huge loss. Just how good was he? He has currently graded out as the 4th best Center in the NFL through week 6 as a rookie.

I agree, if we had a somewhat decent run game the offense would probably be a lot better, it also doesnít help our biggest playmaker as a WR has been a freshman TE thatís just now getting into stride. I canít for the life of me understand why we insist on getting the ball to Rogers on 3-4 yard down field passes, that guy cannot get a single yard after the catch to save his life. Now the play in the end zone was great and heís good for that, but other than that Rogers isnít that good of an asset to the team

I can’t understand why no team in the Big 12 can field a Defense. I just looked up rankings and stats and it’s not good.

Losing your center can screw up the whole offensive line. Heís usually the signal caller. Losing a center the caliber of McCoy can really screw things up.

As well as a FR TE and a FR RB that is learning on the fly to pick up blitzes, thatís another thing you donít think of much, but Traveon (sp) was a heck of a blocker in the backfield

It doesn't help that they play each other with alot of high powered offenses. There were some OOC games this year that kinda proved that point.

This was your typical Herman game. Texas gets up 14-0 and is on the way to blowing a team out and then stupid plays / decisions lets the other team get back in it, so its a dogfight into the end. The only positive is Texas has been on the winning side of these games the last two years for the most part.

I know Texas is banged up, but Orlando's scheme is causing Texas to get gashed for big plays. They are great for a couple of plays and then give him a huge play. Herman didn't help by giving KU the ball at midfield twice on missed 4th down plays.

In the end, I think the issues can be cleaned up. Texas moves on to TCU at 5-2 with all the season right on track and all the goals still right in front of them. I did see that Vegas has opened with TCU as 2.5 point favorites, so looks like they are not giving this team anymore benefit of the doubt.

Same thing in the Bowl Games and how the Big 12 defenses held the other teams below their average in yards and points. Stats don't mean anything if you don't take into account the number of plays faced.

There is a big difference in facing 100 plays vs 65 plays. That pace of play is going to wear down any defense and naturally give up more yards when you face that many more plays. That was my point talking about stats don't tell the story.

While Texas D sucks, you still have to out score them to beat them and only two teams have to date and theyíre both top 5 teams. So, is Texas really that bad? In the end, Orlando got schooled with his BS last night, he got out coached by a fella new to the spotlight. Thatís an issue that can be addressed and fixed.

This can be fixed, but he better grow a pair and fix it...

Texas' defense is allowing 469.9 yards per game (453.3 before Kansas), which is the worst average in school history. Previous record was 452.6 yards per game in 2015. In addition, Todd Orlandoís defense is giving up an average 509.2 yards per game in the Big 12 this season.

Texas may not be that bad. But, is "not that bad" acceptable now in Austin? Especially when Herman came in as the next big thing. And, received a lot of money to make sure Texas is back. Same in College Station.

The money in those two scenarios is way different. Texas did not back the Brinks truck up like A&M did.

The season has to play out before judgement is made.

What was hard to understand? He needs to fix his defense at all cost... obviously they can keep up with top 5 teams. Time to beat them and there are obviously changes that need to be made.

Not sure why anyone would think itís acceptable.

Itís not that itís acceptable to be ďnot as bad as it looksĒ, cause itís fixable. Now if Herman doesnít fix it, thatís unacceptable and ultimately will fall on him. Texas isnít that far removed from only winning 5 games in a season, itís a process to get back.

Every coach in America wrestles with the issue of loyalty / continuity of a staff vs underperformance. Supposedly he has these guys on one year contracts to make sure they are coaching for their future so it will be interesting to see what he does after the season. He has some weak spots on staff that he needs to address.

Plus it's barely past the halfway point of year 3. If he fixes it and they go 10-2 everything is fine. If they fall apart and go 8-4 it isn't ok. Next year is critical. No conference title or playoff birth and he is in big trouble.

Not sure why anyone would think itís acceptable.

Don't totally disagree, but both of those games were not nearly as close as the score indicated IMO. It's NEVER acceptable, for any program!!!

Why would he be in big trouble? It's clearly better than it was. At least he has a plan it seems like. The only thing that I see could stand in Hermans way is he is a bit stubborn sometimes. This is the difference between he and Riley IMO. For instance, if they play again Riley will have a different scheme and Herman will be determined to do the same thing as always, only better..

They werenít and yet, they both came down to an onside kick.

This defense sucks!

Iíll be hunting with the boy next weekend so I wonít be watching or even listening to the game in Fort Worth.

Iím sure TCU will have a Heisman contender by the time itís over.
