Where to eat in Lufkin, or nearby

Wife and I get the rare opportunity to ditch the kids, I mean send them lovingly off to school, and go enjoy a day together. We’re gonna ride some good motorcycle roads and will likely roll through Lufkin around lunchtime. Does Lufkin have a really good place to pull over and grab a bite to eat before we loop back through the national forest on our way back home?

Chain restaurants are there (Chilis, Outback, Olive Garden, Cheddars, Cotton Patcb, etc). If you want a good burger, try Mom’s or Ray’s. Good Mexican food try Herraduras. Roma’s Italian is nice. Pelican Point and Tia Juanitas have good Cajun/tex mex flare. Ralph and Kacoos is good for seafood. Catfish Junction if you want all you can eat catfish. Mr Rays Food Court is a good all you can eat buffet.

Tia Juanita's. Seafood enchiladas' are gooooood.
Different end of the spectrum is Mom's Diner. Never had anything bad there, but my favorite is just a good ole cheese burger.

Just get some fried chicken at Brookshire Brothers and eat it there. They have tables and chairs near the deli. Their sides and cobbler is better than any restaurant you will find in Lufkin.

Was made aware of a small spot in Leona called Pecan Grove. Looks pretty good, I think we’ll swing west instead of going through Lufkin.
