What Cotton and AP expressed, "laquer"!

Thanks to Cotton for sharing such great info and taking the time to make the video!

Does the fade color have to be laquer as well?????

Also, where do you guys find the laquer paint????? Home Depot and Wally World here in Rowlett had little to no laquer paint.

Craft supply stores carry the paint for car models. I also use the white laquer paint from Home Depot. This method works like a champ on my carbons, but I am stepping up and gonna build a cresting machine to do my port orford recurve arrows.

              Best of luck...

The fade can be anything just don't paint it where the vane will go.

I used Cotton's video and have done a couple dozen arrows so far. I used white lacquer base, then flo-orange to fog in the nock end. I wait for it to dry well, they LIGHTLY spray a couple coats of clear lacquer over everything and the blazers adhere fine. I say light because if it's heavy, it causes the flo-orange to get gummy and melt.

You can see them in my avatar picture on the left.

I took a leap of faith and bought a fletching jig at the archery shop a year ago, and it's not as hard as I thought it would be.

The "trick" I learned in doing full helical fletching with Blazers, was not to push the fletching all the way into the holder- I leave about 1/16 inch of the vane between the clamp and the base. That way, when I push it onto the arrow shaft, the middle gets pushed towards the clamp, but because of the full helical, the ends stay in contact with the arrow and the glue sticks great.
