Benbrook Lake keeps rising - I have carp swimming in between my feet and ducks splashing about - but not deer lol.

Benbrook is 9.42 feet "above" normal at the very present. And to think, it was over 9 foot low back in August.

They're letting water out of the lake at a pretty good clip right now.

Water still up, ducks quacking where bucks were sleeping not two weeks ago. Sat in a new spot tonight and enjoyed the sounds of nature, of Gods good creation. Not a deer in sight, but definitely worth the trek.

Anyone think it's worth fighting the rain this evening?

Benbrook lake level is currently 10.62 feet above normal and rising. It's gained 1.81 feet in the last 24 hours as of this moment. No water is being released at this moment.

Good thinking. But you might need a motor for it if the bank keeps getting further away.

Benbrook lake level up to 11.46 feet above normal and still rising. No water is being released at the moment.

Had this and a smaller 4 pointer hanging around this morning. The bigger but was borderline legal.

Guys I was contacted about a big buck found on Benbrook Corp property that was arrowed. If anyone lost a nice deer shoot me a PM and we will go over the details to see if it may be your trophy.

Sad to hear. But at least they can narrow the hunters down....unless it was poached.

I been out there last couple days. Got out a little late this afternoon and trucks already parked so I won’t enter the area if people are already setup. Seen a doe yesterday on my way out but not close enough.

I stumbled upon a pop up blind yesterday... looks maroonish and camo pretty close to a creek. Hopefully you weren’t in it but I probably will be tomorrow if it’s still there... lol

I’ve bumped a few quail out there.... was told by rangers that I cannot use my bird dogs to hunt then or even train in the off-season because all dogs must be leashes while on Corp property

I used to live pretty close to the Old Granbury road side out there and I ran 3-5 times a week on the horse trails and otherwise. I never have seen the Corp Rangers out there once, though I did run into some police that needed help putting cattle back in the neighboring pasture that they got out of. My heelers were glad to oblige.

Iím not advocating for breaking the rules but when a dog is off a leash or some idiot is poaching or firing off 9mmís or shooting his .270 from the concrete water tanks, Iíd think that the firearm situation would be more pressing. Unfortunately when I have called, multiple times, to report such issues, they didnít seem too concerned and told me to call Fort Worth PD.

I know someone who has hunted rabbits off leash out there several times. I have also seen labs retrieve dove out there. I don't ever remember seeing anything about dogs having to be on leash.

from the looks of these reports, we have been lucky not to have been drawn this year. Hope things get better before it is over.
