We rolled into camp yesterday afternoon in Menard County and jumped on the Can Am to try to spot some birds.
The lease looks great with all the new growth green grass and tons of deer running around. I snuck up on my feeder to find 4 big boars there and popped one. He dropped but was kicking so I put another one in him and to my surprise he jumped up and ran off. I went back and grabbed the Can Am and went looking for him, expecting to find him 20-30 yards past where I shot him. Well, I come around some brush and he charges me so I side step as he runs right past me. He stops at 15 yards and turns back toward me, so I put another in him to finish him. It was wild.
This is my first spring on this lease so we are going in pretty blind on where the birds are going to be. I moved a popup in an area I think there should be birds for us to start in the morning. The plan is to run and gun and see where the birds take us.
Let’s go!
