Didn't realize that my pic did not go through... Anyways, hoping to get some advice. I am going to be carving names into wood, I figured routing would be best, but I am having a hard time of thinking how to do this. I thought template at first, but now I don't know... should I just freehand it? Might take a trip after work to Woodcraft and get their opinions... also thinking of recording from here on out so that there's a video of what I'm doing. I think this could get really cool if I take my time and do it right.

Update...
A buddy of mine has a CNC machine. I asked if he could carve the inlay...but he said 1" was too much. Looks like he can do 1/4" plywood templates and then I can flush cut the rest by hand using a router. Decided to go with walnut inlay. Literally haven't had a chance to do anything on this the entire time.Comment
