    South Texas Rattlesnakes?

Hey guys, this weekend I am going to be hunting just north of Eagle Pass. I have a pair of snake boots then my normal hiking boots. With the weather, are the rattle bugs still out and about or am I safe with just hiking boots. Obviously rather be safe than sorry. Thanks for the info

Depends on the weather. If you get a warm afternoon they may come out of their den and sun themselves. We have killed them in the middle of February. If the temp is above 70, I am wearing snake boots.

We have killed them on Christmas day! It all depends on the weather. If it doesn't get out of mid 60s, you will be fine. If it hits 70, I would wear snake boots.

With the above average count of snakes I have seen I am wearing snake boots when I am out at my lease.

Wear them. Everything sticks you down that way.

If there is sun, there will be snakes at the den openings. Yes to snake boots!

Be sure they are at least 3/8" thick and 36" tall.

My buddy's dog was bitten this morning north of Beeville. Got chilly there last night and it happened before work this morning.

Biggest snake I have killed when I was living down there was this time of year hunting quail around Beeville. He had 14 rattles. I always wore snake boots, regardless of the time of year or temperatures.
