What is a big coyote?

Did some calling last night and my buddy shot a nice coyote. Ended up weighing 55 lbs. I know I have never shot one that big. I am guessing that this is a pretty big coyote. Is it?

Also if any of you guys are interested in calling I strongly suggest the convergent game call and the Axion hand held thermal. It has been a game changer for us. The convergent call has increased my success of calling in varmints substantially. I got both from Jason at outdoor Legacy and he was a great help.

35#-40# is a normal size dog.

So yeah a 55lber is a big dog.

The biggest I've ever seen weighed 44 pounds if I remember right.

Yes, for Texas it is big. Average for Northern dogs.

It was a male. I am guessing they get bigger than females.

55lbs?? Was that a guesstimation or a actual scale weight?
He don't look anywhere near that big.. That's a mighty strong fella holding 55lbs straight out like that..
But yea a 55lb Coyote is a fairly large coyote..

Had him on a scale. That is my buddy that is over 6' tall and his exact words were "this is much heavier than the 45 lb weights I use at the gym". If you zoom up on the picture you can see the strain on his face lol.
