Default Eastbound and down...

Leaving the desert and headed to Pipe Creek to El Rancho Pequeno( the in-laws 15 acres) to try to stick some deer. Plenty of deer, several Axis, and a few turkeys have been on the camera. And this guy stroller through when my ranch foreman(FIL) was there.

Hope I have a few pictures of dead things to show to everyone over the next few days! Ready for a breakfast taco and arrow slinging.

Got to crank up the mower after this morningís sit. Grass is taller than the deer. Had the biggest buck weíve got on camera at the feeder for 10 minutes this morning and no shot.

Yes it will.

Need to change the feeder timer too. It spun about 30 minutes before I could see, so most everything had cleared out by good shooting light.

No joke. Forgot to reset the feeder and add an afternoon spin AND forgot to put out alfalfa. Old folks these days...

Have a friend that lives in Pipe Creek. There's a pretty solid population of Axis if you're close to water.

Killed a doe last Thanksgiving. Had a bunch on camera until they ran out of alfalfa.

Been pretty eventful. Had a little 2.5 yr old 9 hanging out most of the evening and 4 or 5 1.5 old bucks. Doe and twins, and one single doe that needs to be killed. Had an 8 I would have gladly shot come in for a second and that doe came running around everything else like an idiot and he boogied.

Good Lord my nerves...Had the big buck at the feeder for the last 15-20 minutes. Got drawn on him and never had a shot. He had 4 or 5 does with him and they all left but one. The one doe that stayed with him kept trying to peg me so I never could draw again. She eventually left and I thought I had him. Coyote came through about 125 yards off and he went to check it out. Then CAME BACK by himself, got to 25, started feeding again but facing me. He started to turn, and then he just took off.

Stood out there 100 yards off grazing around for a minute and then left grunting.

Was going to shoot this one yesterday if I would have had a chance. A doe boogerd out and took everything with her as soon as he came in.

Well, the big boy never showed up this morning, and I was down to basically my last sit. I went ahead and dropped the hammer on the little slick 8 that Iíd passed on constantly. He came in about right after the feeder spun and watched him for an hour along with 2 or 3 other little bucks and a half dozen does and fawns/yearlings. He stayed around with a yearling doe after everything else left, and I decided that since we came for hang out with the family and kill a deer that I should get busy, because I hadnít done either. My boy approved .
