Found this guy back in March. Must of died in early 2019.
Got him boiled and whitened and then stained up.

With a little help from my oldest son

Nice. Any history of the deer before finding it dead?

Yep he was 5 when he died. He was the tamest/dumbest deer I have ever seen. He would walk underneath a tripod every single day (whether there was a hunter present or not). Look right at you and just keep on going. We were likely going to hunt him at 6 but never saw a buck that I thought was him......in March I realized why I was unable to place him last season.

It’s always a bummer to find them dead, but you get closure and in this case a nice euro that looks completely in tact! Will look great on the wall. Great job on the stain

Looks good, and interesting history story about your Forest Gump deer. His tamest/dumbest worked for him several years, so there is that. Best pic is of you and young helper with the gloved hand staining the horns. Nice job dad.

Gorgeous dead head bro. Never thought to use stain to bring the color back!

Thanks. Certainly wasn’t my idea but I think it was Antlers86 who told me about that stain for deer antlers. If you only have a small area to do “touch up” you can do it pretty much perfectly. It’s rough to do the whole rack but it turned out alright.
