PSA they are still out there

Stepped on a copperhead this morning walking down my concrete driveway. Never saw him until I put my right foot right on top of him and felt something funny under my foot. Had tennis shoes on. Stepped dead center on him with my big bear track and had his head pinned under my foot.

Couldn't bite me thank the Lord! That will get your heart rate up!

Look before you step or grab. Had I been barefooted or if it was a bigger snake I would have got bit.

Well you were very lucky. Of course they are “still out there.” Where would you expect snakes to be in this heat?

Glad you did not get bit. We have a lot of them around my house and I have a bad habit of wearing flip flops everywhere in the summer.

A friend of mine's wife was bit by a coppehead @ Schlitterbahn last week.
5am on the deck of their tree house they had rented inside the park.

They are always out in Texas. Seen them plenty in the winter on sunny semi-warm days.

Thanks for the reminder. We are stomping around in unusual places taking down hurricane window boards.

PSA they are always out there. I have killed at least one rattlesnake in every month of the yr.

Was on a La Salle county lease some years back and we were driving the perimeter road one January day and found nearly a 5-footer across the road---temps were in the '40s, but guess it liked the sunshine.

Maybe he thought they had evacuated due to Laura?
