Day 1
We had 11 for 4 in Garwood. Slow on our little pond on this place. Only 1 bird got out. For some reason the last few years the birds just don't work this pond like they used too. we used to take turns shooting. Lots of shooting around us,but birds all high when over this place. The group on my big flat had a 4 man limit. LOTS of good reports from Anahuac, Brookshire & Garwood.
Tomorrow is a new day!

It sure is, many places will magically have birds after the first day or two of shooting.

I’m convinced flyways have changed.

All my guys in Anahuac/Winnie had absolute blowouts with limits by 7:30

Day 2
Great time again in Garwood. Hunted my bigger flat today. 4 of us had limits today. Not as much shooting on prairie this AM. Good amount of birds working, but mostly pairs & singles. Only had a couple of bunches & they were 4 or 5 birds. Yesterday we had almost all drakes. Today more hens or young of year birds. Already pumped to head out again in the morning!

We had a heck of a hunt this morning in El Campo. We had an 8 man limit by 8AM and could have kept shooting long after that. The birds were working great. Most of our shots were on good size groups of 20 or more birds. We had a group of six come and dropped them all in the decoys. We had 3 guys in the blind that had never duck hunted and safe to say they are hooked.

One thing about going to college online is it gives a ton of time to E-Scout while you’re “in-class”. Tons of birds here on the middle coast! Could have stayed and shot them all day. Ended up with our limit both days with ease. All that time “in class” definitely payed off!

Pretty sure I hate all of y'all!

Got a late invite for the opener on a property close to Austin. Lake was up another foot from the rain this week. There was a ton of shallow flooded habitat everywhere. Very few birds early, but had several nice flights come in after 7:30. Unfortunately, they didn;t decoy very well. Fun to be out and great to see some ducks. Hope to get out more this season, been long time since I did any serious duck hunting.

Congrats on all the successful hunts!

Day 3!

Quick limit in Garwood. 6 teal, 6 shots in 12 minutes, taking 1 bird out of a flock. Shooting a 28 ga with bismuth. The weather was nice on the prairie this AM. NNE breeze about 10 -12 mph & cloudy. Made it feel like a hunting day.

Well looks like she got the birds out of the water . She turned into a good looking pup. We bred one of her littermates and kept a really nice male from that litter. He's a beast.

We managed to shoot 7 limits Saturday morning on some public ground in North Texas.

Haven't decided yet if we will chase them again this weekend or not. Sure was nice being out in the woods!

Day 4
Garwood prairie. Great weather again. Makes it feel like a good hunting day. Not as many birds as yesterday. Even other groups around were shooting less. We had ample birds & took advantage of them while they were moving. Took about an hour today. Looking forward to tomorrow!!
