    Are These The Same Round?

Are the two different boxes pictured here the same and just have been rebranded?

    TIA

Looks like three boxes have the number 8096 on them but one doesn’t. Maybe different powder, powder charge, or both on the Black ?

          nope...different lot #.

similar, but not the same...that is unless they print on paper the same.

Doesn't matter otherwise...unless needed for long range results.

Yep different lots of ammunition, same lots are good for shooting the long range paper and woodchucks

I was turned on to the 168 A Max MATCH for a hunting round years ago and have had great results with it. Academy did not have them but had the 168 A Max Blacks.

Just seeing what the brain trusts thoughts are in the differences.

They say it's manufactured for use in "black" guns or AR platform rifles. Below is from a Gun Digest article:

Hornady Black ammo is purposefully designed to feed and function properly in a variety of AR-style rifles, regardless of operating system or configuration.

"While some of the loads in the Black lineup are new, most of the Black ammo line includes existing loads that were scattered throughout other lines of Hornady ammunition that perform well through MSRs. For example, certain cartridges that were once labeled with Varmint Express, Custom or Match labels may be renamed under the Black lineup. In most instances where existing Hornady loads are re-branded under the Black name, the existing loads will be discontinued and replaced with the new Black label SKU."

If you go into the Hornady web site you can see the differences...each has a slightly different ballistic coefficient.
