I decked it with plywood and built some storage hatches. I didn't box them in, I wanted them to just be open under neath.

Nice little rig. I had one like that and used to fish everywhere. I’m looking for a used Chiquita for a back water fish chaser.

I painted all the plywood with 3 coats of oil based paint. I built the frame and supports out of 2x2's. I moved the fuel tank to the front. I also moved the trolling motor and battery to the front to get the weight forward. I built the stand up grab rail and made a tiller extension.

I think it turned out pretty good. It runs in about a foot and floats in about 5 inches. I really like all the front deck space and storage. It runs about 25mph with my grandson and I in it.

Nice looking rig. Add a front casting platform and an aft poling platform and your all set for reds. And, will be able to see a lot more of them before they spook.
