    Headed to Oklahoma

This Indiana boy is headed to Oklahoma Thursday to hunt hogs a couple days with my recurve. Going to do the dog/knife hog hunt one night then will spend a day in the preserve at same place for something maybe an aoudad. They said all their aoudad are about 15” horn length. Gave me a decent price for one but curious if a younger ram or ewe that would have 15” horns would be worth eating or not. I have killed half a dozen exotic rams and used one for
Coyote bait and gave the others away to ranch hands that must of been better cooks than me. Now I don’t care to kill it if I can’t eat it unless it’s a varmint.
So what do you think about eating younger aoudad?

I've had cabrito barbecued in the ground that was tolerable. Other than that I've not had any sheep, lamb, goat etc that I wanted to have seconds.

If it were me, I’d find someone to give the aoudad to!!!!!

        Good luck on your hunt!

Good luck! I’m the same way, won’t kill it unless someone is gonna eat it. I killed one javi and that was it. I’ve heard young ones and ewes were edible. Don’t know but have fun.

              I don't have that rule.

Eat the Young Aoudad. Slow cook the hindquarters and do the backstrap just like an older buck. IF you prepare the meat right and ice water it for a day, you should have no trouble enjoying a few meals.

Pretty much ice and sleet here, roads are dangerous. I'm about 50 miles from Fairview.
