mww982 and BG sorry to hear about the fire on your lease. Maybe a blessing in disguise - deer love all that new growth and hopefully will come back twice as thick over time. We did a prescribed burn with the landowner awhile back and it seemed to come back quickly. Hope to run into you again sometime in Antlers .

Hope everyone on here has a good season and looks like there are some awesome bucks being chased this year. Unfortunately, I've had zero prep this year due to a home renovation but have set aside two weeks starting the 25th of October . Figure that should be a decent time to go ... rut going pretty hard and hopefully cooling off.

Ill be coming in blind this year having not been on the property at all in months and almost zero feeding done. Figure it will be an interesting experiment though to see how the deer movement is this year compared to last year . I ran a lot of cameras and fed a lot last year but also means more human scent and presence in the woods. I can't count the times I jumped deer walking in. So I'm hoping since the property has had zero humans on it and is completely undisturbed that one of the big bucks I was a chasing last year will show up near his home territory . LOL

Hope to see you guys arrow some giants this year. Never know what might show up there !

Also , the landowner hunted this past weekend when that cold front hit and had 8 bucks cruising one of which was a big shooter but too far out. So sounds like they might be starting to look for that first doe coming into heat

They are looking hard, sat a doe hole the other morning and had 11/12 different bucks in there bumping does, rubbing, scraping, and sparring. Canít figure out how to download a video but I have 5- 3/4 years olds in one 10 sec video. Fun time to be in woods, big boys should be about a week out.

Hey guys, a little late to the game. Hunted public last weekend and had a ton of action between myself and my group. This weekend the wife and I are hitting our property north of Cloudy. Left a camera out a couple weeks back so hoping to have something to drool over. At the very least a camera still there to check!

Congrats on the pig!

AntlersBoy you might need help dragging that 8 out of the woods. Heís got some girth.

Looking forward to see how everyoneís season turns out.
As of now this is the best Iíve got on camera.

Looks similar to the deer from last season.

Tore my shoulder up playing stupid this weekend. Was able to get my 70lb bow back twice ďalmost passed out, literallyĒ have a grow with me bow thatís my sons, good friend gifted to him. Looks like I might be setting it on 40 and hoping my deer are very patient.

On different note deer have slowed down on cams, about to be game time.

Set down in front of phone for a min, thought Iíd clear some things up. Iíve posted a ton of different pics on here and have got a few questioning PMís. Iíve lived here in push county my whole life and am pushing 40. I am an avid and...... maybe a little obsessed deer hunter. I am very fortunate in the fact I can afford and have access through friends and family to ALOT of prime whitetail country. I run anywhere from 40/50 trail cams for half the year. Have pushed that number to double when I had help. Love sharing pics and chasing these freakin willy suckers. There are a couple of people on here that have seen my obsession in person For all you guys that like the pics thanks, for the doubters I hope this cleared things up a little.

we had a handful of us in camp last weekend to do a little hunting and a little work getting ready for muzzle loader week. Everyone saw deer on each sit so that was promising. I had a nice eight point cross the creek behind me chasing a doe Sunday morning. Myself, as well as the others all made comments about the deer moving late. Most of our activity was from 8:30-10am on morning sits.

We will have a few guys in camp including myself from Friday through the following Sunday. We try our best to be p there during the entire muzzle loader season each year and treat it as a cheap vacation. About half of us are actually muzzle loader hunting. he other half are keeping it simple this year with a stick and string the entire season.

hope to connect with some nice ones. our #1 target buck stepped out at 85 yards Sunday morning at 9:30am.. he was a week early in my opinion because if he does it again I'l up 250 grain bullet in his chest.

Didnít turn an arrow loose this past hunting trip, but made the best of the rainy weather.
I arrived to camp Wednesday night. On my first hunt (Thursday morning) the big 9 fed on my hand corn at 30 yds. If he wasnít facing me he was quartering towards me. Never provided me a shot I felt comfortable with at that distance.
The rain moved in before noon so I took the opportunity to meet up with AntlersBoy and his crew for lunch. Followed by some hunting stories at the man cave.
Thursday evening hunt was a washout along with most part of Friday.
Saturday morning the rain let up around 9am. Tried to get the SxS across a creek to access my hunting area. I got stuck and attempted to winch my way out. Lol. Cable had some bad spots and it broke. Luckily I could get to the creek with my truck to pull it out.
Determined to hunt my set, I crossed the creek packing in some dry pants to change into.
Hunted from 10:30 to 6:30. Only saw two young bucks. Movement was at 1-1:30. Then one of the bucks came back at 3.
Saturday night visited pse-madman at his camp and threw a few drinks back around the campfire.
Sunday morning hunt was slow, had a young eight come in around 7:30am.

Thanks for letting me join the campfire fellas.

Got up to Honobia/Three Rivers for opening weekend of muzzle loader; ended up tagging a buck and doe Saturday. Sign wasn't too hot besides a rub here and there but I did see plenty of bucks bumping does around after the rain quit that morning. The old guy I put down responded quick and mean off his bed to some mock scraping and rattling Saturday afternoon once the weather cleared out. I'll see if I can figure out how to throw a couple pictures up for y'all.

Still haven't made it to the lease yet! Feel like I'm missing the best part of the season - right around muzzleloader to first week or so of November is usually my favorite.

I felt like the rut was really short last year and also early. Hoping this year it goes pretty hard into mid November maybe little later. Guess there are a few other virgin ruts later in season that can be good too what 30 days after the main event for the does that didn't take . What dates have you guys seen being typical peak rut in our area yrs past? Im north of moyers - south of Clayton about 30 minutes from antlers

Hoping to officially be hunting hard starting November 2 or 3rd for two weeks straight.

On a side note does anyone know any really good deer processors near the antlers area or within 45 minute drive that will take a field dressed deer? I normally break down and process all my own stuff and after doing it myself didn't think ide ever go back, but unfortunately won't be able to do that this year. Ide like to take a cpl does over the two week period and not have to drive 3 hrs home to process and miss hunting these bucks on my time off. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Lastly, any really good taxidermist in the area ? I use a guy in witchita falls for years and he has always done a pretty good job, about $550 a head. Figured better start looking for good taxidermists close by so I'm ready when I arrow a giant in a week! HAHAH ill keep dreaming lol

Congrats to everyone on here that has taken deer looks like some really nice ones! Have a feeling a cpl more big ones are gonna take a dirt nap real soon! Good luck everybody !

McCarty processing between antlers and atoka.

I tried a new taxidermist last year kid last name Watson in caney ok, did a good job, $400.

Oh and the rut last about 2 months down here, prime time last week of October and first week of November

Thanks very much Antlersboy! Very helpful. Nice having someone local on here . Going to look up the processor. Is their turn around pretty fast?

Your deer heads from last year looked great - ill give him a try hopefully I will have a deer to send him this year. And he is cheaper. Will PM you for details.

In clay county tx where I hunted for ten years they would rut for months too - we had a lot of does and I believe they will continue to rut till each doe has been breed.

Is anyone hunting the colder weather and high pressure over the next cpl days? Weather looks perfect -good winds too . Figured a cpl big ones would go down this weekend. Wishing I could be in the woods
