I Didn't Call You!

So, somehow telemarketers have gotten my cell number & use it as a "ghost" number to call other people. I get calls all the time from odd numbers asking "who is this". Of course I say "you called me, you tell me who you are". At first I didn't believe people when they kept telling me they had a missed call from me because I knew I didn't call them. Then I had 2 different people send me screenshots of my number on their phone that "I" called. Clearly they've somehow got my number to show up when they call people so it doesn't show it coming from them.
How the heck are the spammers doing this & how do I stop it???

I believe their computers search for numbers that are not currently being used and locked on to it for a call. That's why I get 20 marketing calls a day from local area codes. Now, I wont answer a call that does not have a name associated with it.
There has to be a law created to prevent this crap.

I’ve had this happen a few times as well with people calling me because I “called them”. On the other side I get telemarketing calls quit a bit from numbers that are very similar to mine.

I’ve had something similar. They used a number in my list of contacts to call me to make it look like I was getting a call from a friend. Pretty crazy what they are doing now.

Happened to me. I didn't believe them because I knew I hadn't called anyone. The next day I got a call from my own number then I realized if they use my number on me then they use it on others

I don't answer calls that the number is not already stored in my contacts. I don't return calls just from a missed call. If it is someone I don't have stored calls me and they so not leave a message I do not call them back.

I have a personal cell phone a company cell phone and a land line in my office at work. I get anywhere from to just a few to over 20 unsolicited calls a week

Like others have said I have had someone using my number to call me.
