Texas rat snake, well liked by many on this site including me. Will eat eggs, but also eats rats and mice so earns his keep. He is your friend as evidenced by wanting to join you in the house. And good karma to have one like him who matches your brick so close. Just let Diesel know to keep walking around this fellow, and everything will be cool.

Johnson, funny story about that “rat snake” branch striking your leg. I too am a member of “doing goofy stuff witnessed by wife” club. Wives have long memories, and will dredge up our awkward moments as it best suits them.

They are harmless till you are reaching to pick eggs in the dark and grab snake instead. Bad things happen then

I can appreciate a snake ID thread where the snake still has it's head.

They are great climbers. If it wants in your attic it can get there usually.

Good one to have around. I went out last night looking for an armadillo that’s been wreaking havoc on our yard. Saw a rat snake about 4’ long in the back yard.
