    New Ranch Cabin

Needed something at the ranch to stay dry and warm with a bathroom and kitchen. I 've been at it for about two years now and I'm far enough along to post some pics. The game plan is to pay as I go so when I'm finished I won't owe anybody anything. So far it is working. All of the wood on the inside is reclaimed except I've recently bought some cedar that I'm putting on the ceiling in my room. I also bought some #3 resawn for some of the walls. I didn't want any sheetrock anywhere in it because of cracking. It's basically a home made metal building with stone on it.

The pipe is 3.5" OD., metal purlins, 4"X4" square tubing for the joists. Me and a buddy are doing everything except for the concrete and electrical. We built a lift for the tractor to do all of the heavy lifting.

I have a 10X50 porch running down either side. Two inches of closed cell on the ceiling and one inch of closed on the walls with 3" of open cell over that. Seems to be plenty as we worked in there when it was 4 degrees this winter in shirt sleeves with just a wood burning stove going.

I think about 14 feet. I can tell you that when you get a 1000# bag of corn all the way as high as it will go that the front wheels on the tractor get squirrely. haha
