I just ordered a Seekins Havak PH2 in .300 win mag a few days ago. I have a Zeiss 3-15x42 I was going to put on it. The more I think about it, the less I want to put a scope on it without a turret for elevation. I want to control weight though, that’s why I chose this rifle. I also don’t want to spend $2,000. I’m looking the hardest so far at the Leupold VX3I LRP, and the VX5HD. Looking to stay in a 3-15/4-16 ballpark for magnification. I like the price and reticle options I’ve found on the VX3I. I can find it in FFP with TMR reticle. I like this reticle a lot. But wondered about the difference in turret quality, and glass quality? Also open to recommendations on other options in same price/weight.

The VX3i LRP is a great optic and will do anything you need it to. Leupold can make you a custom yardage turret via their Custom Shop. I have a VX3 4.5-14x40 on my Wifes 7-08 and it makes for a fantastic rig. My long range rig sports a Mark 4 4-16x50 and honestly the glass in comparable in both

The VX5 is going to be a noticeable improvement in glass quality over the VX3i. Can’t speak for the turrets.

Depends on how much of an oz counter you are. Also if you want ffp or sfp.
Im a leupold fan but if you dial alot they can be iffy. I love my mark5 hd's but sounds like they are outa your price range. They are one of the only leupolds I trust to track. I own 4 of them and havent let me down. I dial alot though and are hard on my gear.
I would look
Zeiss v4
Nightforce shv or nxs
Meopta optika6
Maven rs3
Bushnell lrts or lrhs
SWFA
Just FYI redhawkrifle has a bunch of demo zeiss v4's and NF on sale. Pretty descent price...Last edited by OSU Fisher; 12-09-2019, 08:13 PM.

I just don’t want to break the bank on this rifle. The last scope I bought was a Vortex Razor HD Gen 2, and though it was awesome, it was HEAVY. I don’t want to go over 21-22 oz, and under that would be ok. I really thought the nightforce SHV line would be nice, but they are closer to 30 oz.
I really like FFP, but if I have to to be in weight range for this I will go SFP.
