You could have just stepped on his head and saved that high priced ammo.

I’ve probably seen 10 or so in my life, that is the biggest by far.

He could have but, what's done is done. A coral I'll just grab up by hand, ziploc it and toss it in the freezer. I've gotten one 48in rattlebug that way. All the others I use the snake grabbers

47 3/4" is the longest Texas Coral Snake on record. I don't know what county it was found in though. The two biggest Western Diamondbacks on record were both found in Dallas County.

I can't believe that shotgun didn't blow its head clean off. That's also pretty wild.

I am in the same boat. The only one I have ever seen in the wild, my step father shot one with his 12 ga., only to find out it had been dead for a while, it was stiff.
To this day, I have never seen one live anywhere other than at a zoo. That was the case for copperheads also, till four years ago, now we find those regularly.

I killed one twice as long as that.....but I do not have any pics. Ha Ha. That’s a big coral snake you ran across. Have not seen one since I was in my early teens.

I know of an area on the San Antone that produces big ones every year.
