    72 F100 project

For years I have wanted to rebuild an early model 70's pick up.
My Buddy found one in Lubbock that had been parked in an old hay barn for the last 20 years. The is no rust on this truck other than a little surface rust under the hood.
The truck has a 302 and a C-4 transmission. I am goin to stick with the factory powertrain.
First order of business is to get it mechanically sound and then work on cosmetics.
    Here are the plans:
    1. Pull motor and transmission and have them rebuilt. (IN PROCESS)
    2. Install new exhaust (Duals)
    3. New suspension
    4. Inspect rear end
    5. Install power brakes and power steering

If anyone has suggestions on other things that I need to consider please respond. I am a decent mechanic, but this is the first time I have taken on this big of a restoration project.

You talking a fancy new paint job, or leave it with the patina?

Love them old Fords. My only suggestion is remove the fuel tank from behind the seat.

Forgot to add that to the list. I’m going to move the fuel tank outside the cab.
I’m going with a new paint job. Same colors.

Front suspension conversion? Twin I-beam was junk. Hard to keep aligned and would wear tires out faster than a dragster. Some people use a crown vic suspension I think.

This, power disc brakes would be something I would do on any old vehicle restoration, unless the goal is to keep it original, versus daily driver. I would also want to add a little horsepower, and you need the better brakes to shut it down.

I hadn’t considered changing the front end. I doubt it will get driven more than a couple thousand miles a year.
