    New Flemish String Jig

Built me a new Flemish Jig.
It's kind of just utility, but I did put on one coat of clear coat to preserve the lines & markings.
    Works darn good.

"kind of just utility". You're so funny, mines a board w/ a bunch of nails in it! Lol

That is very cool! Highly exacting woodworking going on there!

          Begging a couple of questions:
You fixing to re-start making strings?
          OR, maybe, sell these jigs?

I'm still back to just building strings for myself. For now anyway.
If I ever do start building for the public again it will be on a very limited basis. The arthritis in my hands just won't let me keep up with the orders if I go full bore.

This jig took quite a while to build.
I doubt anyone would want to pay for what I would have to sell them for.
That said: I might crunch some numbers to see what price I can build, and sell them for.

One things for sure, it is very precise. I just set it up to build a 59.5" string (before stretching & conditioning), and it came out spot on.

              LOL

Better than utility to me would be if I had pressure stamped all the numbers (evenly & neatly), painted them & the lines with black, then surface sanded & stained before applying a clear coat, and maybe used nice brass nails for all the pins instead of those #6 finish nails.

I may build a fancy one someday soon, just to show the difference between it & the utility version.

Like I told you a long time ago. Maybe on Stickbow, you are a perfectionist. I envy that in a man, takes patience, something I can barely spell.

                  Thank you Kind Sir.

While I did vary to overall design some, the following PDF is the base design I went by.

Question: Why is the dovetail piece so long? If you cut it off at a couple inches long, it would not stick out from the main part of the jig.

That looks great Rick. Too bad it's not metal.

                        No reason.

I didn't draw up any plans for it.
Was just thinking, and building as I went, and that's where I wound up.

I thought about cutting it off (still may), but you never know when you need a little extra, plus it makes it look nice & neat when it's closed up.

                          Thanks Bob.

I don't have a metal lathe, or milling machine, or might have been.

                            Ok Bisch.

I cut off all that extra just to make you happy.

Rick if you decide to sale them let me know. I have been in the market for a nice jig and this is awesome. Shipping would be to my indiana zip code of 46158.
