Wish I knew when my check was cashed, buying from Capitol, they send the check, so I have no idea. I could call, but on my last can, the folks answering seemed pretty irritated the one time I called, so I figure I'll just let it ride and wait for the call.

I'm curious when the "panic" (I fee like that's not the term I'm looking for) is going to hit the wait times. It had to have happened in May/June so I wonder when wait times are really going to string out. Waiting on a sandman I bought in July. The current pace says it'll be approved around March but I'm thinking a Juneish approval is about right after they hit the wall of forms submitted before 41f.

I think end of May is the beginning and built up into July. I think most people waited until the comment period ended in April to see what tweaks would be made. JMHO

I agree, as soon as it was totally finalized, I did my shopping and bought soon after. A few people on boards that I frequent were talking about pre 41f purchases, but a week or two later, everyone was. We've seen the times stretching out from 4 months last year to 8-9 months now already.....I think the June forms may not be approved until April or May at this point. We'll see post Sandy Hook wait times for a bit, then they'll gradually ramp back down to 4 months or so.

Friend of mine filed his through Capitol a week before me, and he didn't get an email today. I didn't even tell him mine got approved since it is my 5th one, and he is waiting on his first. I've already been busting his chops enough on it, didn't want to rub salt in the wound.

Sweet, getting closer, I should be about two weeks out, give or take a month or two. This process is the most ridiculous thing ever. The idea of manually validating paper applications, even for the Federal Govt, is just unbelievable, not to mention the fact we have to ask permission in the first place.

I would not expect linear progression based on other people's approval dates given the fact that the volume of applications increased significantly leading up to July 2016.

What he said. Not only are times going to slow down significantly in the coming weeks, you also have the ever present random effect of ATF approval. 2 forms submitted the same day can have quite different approval dates just depending on whose desk it fell on, whether they were sick or on vacation, or whatever. Other folks approvals can give you a somewhat general time frame, but that is about it.

So far I have been pretty lucky on 2, about average on 2, and really unlucky on 1.

Yeah, that's why I included the give or take a couple months statement. That said, I've been paying attention and it seems that approvals have been steadily creeping closer and closer to my purchase date, although you're right, I have noticed an apparent slow down, one would expect if May 1 purchases are being approved on Monday, then May 2 should be approved on Tuesday, but obviously with the large influx of transfers around May-June, that's not the case currently.

Specwar 556 K got here from Capitol yesterday. It's gonna be the dedicated can for my CZ-527 in 223, so the Omega won't have to float back and forth between the 223 and my 6.5 Creedmoor any more. Really excited about the compact size of it, but haven't got to test drive it yet because of the rain/snow/ice we are getting up here in the panhandle.

How do you know when the ATF cashed your check? Capital Armory sent it off on May 6th, and I received a serial number May 7th. Someone above bought on May 15th and has theirs already, so should be close!

I did mine through silencer shop and got an email telling me the check was cashed. You can also call and check the status.

For you guys trying to predict when your stamp gets approved, remember one thing. It is the ATF, and it is gonna happen whenever it happens. Approval dates can vary significantly without rhyme or reason. Case in point:

A friend of mine and I submitted form-4's within a couple days of each other last spring. He submitted April 29th, I submitted May 3rd. I got my approval email from Capitol weeks ago, mine was approved Jan 17th, and by the time I got it in the mail earlier this week, it was Feb 13th. At that point my friend had still not heard anything on his. He finally got the email from Capitol today, saying his was approved. His approval date was Feb 2nd. On his, not only was the approval slower, it took more time to get to Capitol as well.

Long story short, he submitted 3 days before me, and will end up actually having it in hand 3-4 weeks after I did. Sucked for him because it was his first and he was really waiting on it, whereas it was my 5th, and I was good (kind of, lol) with whenever.

Welcome to the ATF, where the rules are made up and submission dates don't matter.

I'm no ATF fan-boy, but you need to be realistic with your expectations. There are something like 26 examiners IIRC. They're spread all over the country. Your form and your buddy's were likely sent to different branches. Each branch has different work-loads. Hell, they may even have slightly different policies. There's at least one examiner out there who apparently used to search the database to see if you had any other forms pending, and if so, he batch-approved them all at once, regardless of when they were submitted. That guy needs a freaking raise.

Which is exactly my point. Tons (literally) of forms, going different places to different examiners. Then you have all these guys saying "So and so was approved XX/XX, so I should be approved XX/XX." Which is not the case at all. It will get done, when it gets done. That is what I was trying to say. Watching the clock just makes you get frustrated.

Dealer had the wrong phone number for me so I finally called them at the end of January after I found out they had been approved December 5th. And today I picked up my suppressors.

I was in the same boat. Had one denied around the same time. Had to send in a Paper Form 1 because the site was down. Who knows how long that'll take.

I still haven't even received my refund from the disapproved Form 1.

I've also got a Mist 22 in jail from mid June.
