Will be buying some land soon... I want to have a nice pipe entrance / gate. Post up your entrance and gate to your property.

Mine is in progress. Found some octagon tubing on Craig's List and turned the 1 3/4" square tubing on a diamond. 40 ft. set back. Have a CNC plasma in the shop. Just need the time to finish the gate and header.

Just 1 suggestion - if you add a cross bar at the top, make sure it is at least 16' high and 16' wide so you can get semi trucks in and out. We have a second access for my neighbor's big tractor and discs that is a 20' wide gap in the fence.

Let me make one suggestion. If you're wanting a gate built, reach out to a few local school FFA programs. Lots of times the kids need projects. You will probably just have to cover materials and maybe a donation to the school program. The kids will get experience and maybe be able to enter it in the county show before the gate is delivered. Plus, schools have incredible equipment now days to do cutouts or whatever you might want. We had a nice 16' gate made and hung by our school. I think it was about $500 (total material and donation).

If you or anybody else is going this route just remember a couple of things. it is student built that means it won't be done as fast a normal shop (atleast double maybe even triple the time) it may not be perfect most of the times the kids working on it will have tons of pride in the finished project! |

Not mine, just the last one I built for a new landowner. And of course, the last pic, after I got the entry sign hung, is sideways per my M.O.. Oh well.

Y’all have some nice entrances
Mine is simple but my road curves at about 50 yards thru so you can’t see my house I also have a game camera facing down the driveway toward the house to catch cars/license plates coming and going. Amazing the variety of animals I see on it. Got a photo of a big coachwhip snake last week! |

How deep are you guys drilling for the upright posts that the gate attaches to? I did one a few years ago and could only auger down 4ft, and that wasn't near enough to hold the gate and posts.

If you ever pull any trailers make your entrance deep enough to pull to the gate and the trailer is off the road.

Yeah Walker, that last one I did is specifically for that purpose. The actual gate is right at 80’ from the edge of the oil road. Cuz I know what you’re talking bout, nothing more irritating than trying to fish a 30’ trailer into a gate 10’ off the edge of a narrow CR! And bowhunterchris, the upright posts, (shortest height) where the rafter pitch top pipe overhead join it, are 15’6” from the ground. So plenty high for a double stack load of hay on a 3’ tall (at the floor) gooseneck. Good Huntin, and God Bless, Rusty

My daughter wanted a swing so I built her one.
8” pipe was a little overkill. Wife says could have been an entrance. ![]() |

That Lift you have pictured is it an electric one or motorized? I noticed it has a hitch on it where you can move it around. The reason I am asking is I need to get up approximately 30’ on the eaves of my house to restrain some 4x4s. I wasn’t sure if you could leave one or not. I have used the JLG motor operated lifts in the past where I worked. Thanks
