    Alamo Precision Rifle Question

I bought an APR from Jeffpg on here. It is TBH 2020 Maverick 7 mag.

I want the best, lightweight base and rings. I am ordering a Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x50mm scope for it.

APR is closed today. Anyone have any recommendations?

    Gracias

Maybe be lighter ones out there, but if Game Reaper makes something compatible with APR, then that would be my recommendation.

The gun has 4 screws for bases. 2 on each side of the receiver/bolt area.

Seekins or Hawkins attached to a rail is hard to beat for weight and strength.

Should the base I order be for a remington?

If that's the Pattern then yes..
They have Multiple actions so better confirm...

                        Here's my opinion ...

APR rifle weighs 8 1/4 lbs.
NXS scope weighs 2 lbs. (31 ozs.)

Going with ultra-lightweight rings (Talley or similar construction) will only save you 2 ~ 4 ozs. ... basically around 1/4 of a pound or less.

Rifle with lightweight rings - 10 1/2 lbs.
Rifle with heavier, secure rings - 10 3/4 lbs.

With the recoil of a 7 mag, you want some quality machined rings that will hold the scope secure. Scope rings will be your weakest link and you may experience the scope "walking" if you buy poorly constructed set of R&B. I'd buy some ARC M10 rings that weigh 6 ozs. for the pair and be done with it. I would not hesitate to buy some solid built steel rings which will have very little impact on overall rifle weight.

Same analogy can be said for the picatinny rail. Don't buy a $24.99 rail made in China and sold on Amazon. Several other brands you can research ... Badger, Near Mfg, Murphy Precision. You have a $4500 precision shooting instrument. Don't skimp on the rings and bases, buy quality the first time and you're done with it !!

Rifle weighs 7.4 ozs, but I understand your logic. This will be an all around gun, but will be walking around the mountains a lot too. I don't mind paying up for really good, lightweight rings.

I better just wait and call APR tomorrow.

                            thanks all.
