    What am I going to do?

    One new Bob Lee handle being made in Jacksonville. Dropped my other off so Rob can sand them to be exactly the same. That's 2 Bob Lee's out of action for a week or so.

    Bought a Hoty Satori that came in yesterday, but the string is too short, the new one wont' arrive until Monday, and my arrows not here till about Wednesday.

    All I have to shoot is my old Matthews Q2, and I feel dirty after shooting it. If the girls find out I've been cheating on 'em I'll never hit 12 on another 3D target! (Not that I've ever hit that many anyway).

    What am I going to do all weekend?

    Heck not me. I shoot my compound as well. I killed three big pigs and a doe with it last hunting season.
    A bow is a bow.
    Yes, it's more challenging and satisfying to use a traditional bow.
    But I like shooting my bows. I like killing with my bows.
    It's kind of like a team concept. If one player goes down we keep playing hard and the next player up needs to step up and play hard.

      Maybe buy some Spider Wire and learn how to build a string for the Satori

              Definitely worth looking into, easy enough make em, especially with a jig, and string material is cheap. Lots of good YouTube videos on it. I believe clay hayes put one out on how to do it without using a jig. It’s nice to never have to worry about having a string!

                You’ll be up and running in no time Steve! I’ve been contemplating getting back into a compound just strictly for Nilgai. I hunted with a Q2 for years, no doubt the best compound I ever owned. Killed many deer with that bow. I get all of my strings from John Hynes. Think he makes em for Bob Lee archery but not sure. Great guy to deal with.

                  I seriously doubt that a guy who only builds a couple strings a year for his own use will ever acquire the skillset and consistency to build a great string. Even among the popular builders some have difficulty in consistency. One builder I bought two "identical" strings from they were ⅜the inch different in length from each other right out of the package.
                  You may build a serviceable string but building a string that is quieter and maintains brace height and . . .
                  I just don't see the average joe doing it.

                    Yeah, well, I'm not average. I leave it to you to guess which side of that middle ground I fall on!

                    I have re-served stings. It's not too hard to do. But, for $25 to $30 I'd just as soon replace the string every 2-years anyway. In an emergency, it is nice to be able to fix serving.

                      Me too.
                      Plus, a good young man like Daniel, a schoolteacher as well as an outdoorsman and father, I really don't mind "stimulating his economy" occasionally.

                          Well, here's what I did.
                          1. Escorted the wife to the farmers market and bought some weird mellon called a "Sugar Queen".
                          2. Cut the grass. Weed eat, etc.
                          3. Picked up pile of limbs that keep failling out the trees (dead from the freeze?), cut it up for kindling by the fire pit.
                          4. Got busy on that Satori!!!

                          Found a 59" string that gave me a 8 1/4" BH. Installed some wool silencers. Nocked the string at 5/8" above the rest. Added a hunk of weight to the front end of a 400 spine arrow, which according to the 3Rivers spind calc spined it real close to the bow. Checked limb alingment. And SHOT IT. Who needs bare shaft tuning? Just fling em!

                          It was a tad noisy, so added some felt pad to the limb string groove area, which calmed it down a good bit. But that heavy arrow (11.4 gpp) was barely moving at about 170 fps.

                          Love the grip! It's a R Core??

                          Not 100% sold on ILF. But I'll see if it grows on me as back up and rain day bow.

                          Proper arrows arrive Monday. Will work to get them to fly same speed and FOC as my Bob Lee hunting rig so my aiming and shooting is the same. Well, that's the plan anyway.

                              ILF has a big following. However from what I've read it's more complicated than I'm capable of adjusting for.
