I almost froze to death hanging a stand in Hardin County yesterday.

        Wait, no I almost melted.

You mean to tell me that your bucks aren't pushing around the does yet?

At least at my place, this is the start. Happens at this time of year, every year.
Don't smoke, but will beer do?

Thanks for the heads up. I’m getting my bibs out of the closet for tomorrow.

I don't think it's starting yet, but it won't be long. Should have some cooler weather in a few weeks!!

I have found fresh scrapes in East Texas as early as the second week of September so it's getting real close. It's time to get those stands out and shooting lanes trimmed now if you haven't already.

I hear the rut is already winding down in Brazoria County [emoji23]

I was out this morning and the breeze was steady and there were lots of leaves falling

I figured heat stress but the days are getting shorter and the leaves were yellow so maybe some are getting a head start

Trees will kick off leaves as a way to survive drought conditions.

I’m thinking it’s the 106 degree days and lack of moisture in the ground that’s causing your trees to lose their leaves in the middle of August. But then again, I’m no dendrologist....
