They are around here big time. I don't think we are done with winter yet though.

Mesquite and Pecan trees are the only smart trees that know when winter is over.

Trees only know light periods and soil temp. They cant predict freezes. Never heard of such silly stuff.

They will get burned by a freeze soon. Way too early for them to be blooming. Mesquites & Scissortails are fool proof evidence that the last freeze is over.

Yep, from what I have seen... Pecans bud out last and are the first to drop their leaves.

Have some bradford pears that are budding out now.

I’m waiting on the pecan trees.

My live oaks are swapping their leaves, it is about 3 weeks too early. I believe spring is here by March 1.

I think the new leaves just pushed the old ones off. I was going to trim mine while they were bare but that only lasted a day.

I went for a jog around the neighborhood today and noticed a ton of trees already blossomed out. Also noticed a few still dropping leaves but starting to bud out too.

I sure hope this doesn’t spell disaster for the mayhaw crop.

We will get several more freezes this winter and early spring. Wednesday morning I went out west of town to jog my hounds and it was 24 degrees.
